The Foundation and the College of Music have been awarding the Possehl Music Prize since 1963, and in 2019 it was joined by the Possehl Prize for Contemporary Music and Musical Performance Concepts. Both awards are given to exceptionally talented musicians studying at the College of Music in Lübeck.
The Possehl Engineering Prize has been awarded every year since 1983 for outstanding work at Lübeck Technical University at a ceremony in the Audience Chamber of Lübeck Town Hall. More than 70 prizes and distinctions have been awarded since the first ceremony.

The Possehl Art Prizes are awarded to support and promote art and artists in Lübeck and internationally. The Possehl Prize for Lübeck Art was conferred for the first time in 2018 and from 2019 the Foundation will award the Possehl Prize for International Art every three years. The winners of both art prizes are chosen by the same jury, which is made up representatives of internationally renowned art galleries and museums.
During his lifetime Emil Possehl also helped employees and students to expand their knowledge with travel grants. In this spirit, since 2019 the foundation has awarded Possehl Scholarships for Architecture to bachelor and master students in architecture and urban planning at Lübeck Technical University.
